Nigeria’s provisional list of players for the forthcoming Brazil 2014 World Cup was released this evening in the country’s capital, Abuja, after a meeting between Chief Coach Stephen Keshi and the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
England-based striker Osaze Odemwingie ends his Super Eagles exile as his name is the 30-man list to be sent to world soccer governing body, FIFA. So, too, struggling skipper Joseph Yobo and fit-again midfielder Joel Obi.
However, Keshi continues to shut out the team’s second highest goal scorer of all time, Spain-based Ike Uche, allegedly on grounds of indiscipline.
Expectedly, the list is dominated by the players with whom Keshi won the Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria in February last year and also successfully prosecuted the World Cup qualifying campaign. In the list are:
Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide, Chigozie Agbim, Daniel Akpeyi
Defenders: Elderson Echiejile, Juwon Oshaniwa, Godfrey Oboabona, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Kenneth Omeruo, Joseph Yobo, Kunle Odunlami, Efe Ambrose
Midfielders: John Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Ramon Azeez, Joel Obi, Nosa Igiebor, Michael Uchebo, Ejike Uzoenyi, Sunday Mba, Reuben Gabriel
Forwards: Ahmed Musa, Shola Ameobi, Emmanuel Emenike, Obinna Nsofor, Osaze Odemwingie, Babatunde Michael, Victor Moses, Uche Nwofor, Nnamdi Oduamadi
