Nigerian Premier League giants Warri Wolves FC are gearing up for some local success as they prepare for the Delta State FA Cup final match against Bobbies FC. Having qualified for the grand finale of the competition with a 4-1 walloping of Enerhen FC at the Warri Township Stadium last Thursday, Wolves took their fine form to the Premier League last weekend when the recorded a 1-0 away win against Abia Warriors.
Wolves made easy work of the task of dismissing their less-fancied opponents in the semis to set up a final match with Bobbies FC. Goals from home-based Super Eagles star, Ike Thankgod, Freedom Omofoman, Efe Eyarhere and Brendan Obuh rendered the solitary goal from Eneren a mere consolation.
Omofoma, the young fleet-footed striker of Warri Wolves, says he is looking forward to the state FA Cup final that comes up on Sunday, May 5. “I am confident we have a quality team and experience to win the Delta State Challenge Cup. We won’t underrate Bobbies, but I believe we are capable of winning the trophy,” Omofoma told News Express.
Omofoma has scored crucial goals for Warri Wolves since he joined the team last year. He was Nigeria’s leading scorer in the maiden edition of bottling giants, Coca Cola-sponsored Copa Cup competition teams for grassroots teams in Africa which held in South Africa in 2009.
Warri Wolves are currently in the fourth position of the Nigerian Premier League with 14 points from eight games.
