In separate attacks, Gunmen have killed 22 people in two villages and burnt several houses in the Zurmi Local government of Zamfara State.
It was gathered that the attack took place on Thursday when the armed bandits stormed Maitsaba and Birnin Tsaba villages.
It was further revealed that during the attacked 14 people were killed in Maitsaba village, while 8 were also killed in Birnin Tsaba town.
The attacks may not be unconnected with the killing of a Fulani herdsman on the March 26, 2014 at Tsanu village of Zurmi by members of the vigilante group.
It was also gathered that the gunmen who stormed the villages burnt down over 50 houses on the spot.
As at the time of filing this report most of the villagers had deserted their villages to neighbouring towns.
When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Lawal Abdullahi confirmed the incident but he was quick to add that normalcy had returned to the two villages.
He disclosed that a detachment of mobile police had been deployed to the areas in order to maintain law and order.
