Arsenal have agreed a fee with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for around €65 million, according to multiple reports.

Aubameyang, 28, was due to appear at Dortmund’s district court as a witness at the trial against Sergej W, the man who is accused of detonating a bomb outside BVB’s team bus ahead of a Champions League match in April 2017.

But he was “unable to appear as a witness because of medical reasons,” it was claimed in a statement signed by Dortmund’s team doctor and read out by the judge.

Aubameyang had returned to Dortmund’s team for the 2-2 Bundesliga draw with Freiburg at the weekend having not featured in their previous two matches. However, he put in a disappointing performance, only touching the ball 19 times, and was whistled by some supporters at the Westfalenstadion, who are seemingly fed up with the transfer saga.

That may be about to come to an end with both German football weekly kicker and local paper Ruhr Nachrichten reporting early on Monday that Dortmund and Arsenal have agreed a transfer fee of €65m, with final details still to be negotiated.

Reports in the UK suggested that the deal has now been agreed in principle, with Dortmund ready to sanction it once they find a replacement striker – reportedly Olivier Giroud or Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.

Elsewhere, Dortmund have reportedly beaten Arsenal and Chelsea to the signing of 17-year-old Barcelona midfielder Sergio Gomez, who is set to join the Bundesliga club for a transfer fee of €3m, according to reports in both German and Spanish media. (ESPN)
