Monkey Pox victim
The Monkey Pox virus has spread to Lagos, and this is official.
The announcement was made on Monday afternoon during an emergency media briefing by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris.
The Commissioner confirmed that two suspected cases of Monkey Pox in private hospitals have been reported in the state.
He explained that no confirmation has been made of the two cases but both are currently being investigated.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, has advised Nigerians to remain calm on the outbreak of Monkey Pox, saying there is no reason to panic.
The Minister in a series of tweets on his official Twitter page, on Monday morning, said that “those infected are also responding well to treatment and no death has been recorded so far in the country due to Monkey pox.”
He added: “We shall soon address the media on what we have done to stop Monkey pox from spreading to other states across the country.”
