All Progressives Congress (APC) Interim Deputy National Secretary, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has vowed not to report at the headquarters of the State Security Service (SSS) this morning as requested by the Nigerian secret police.
The SSS, also known as Department of State Service (DSS), had yesterday invited el-Rufai to appear at its headquarters in Abuja this morning over a statement attributed to him in one of the country’s national newspapers that “the next election is likely to be violent and many people are likely going to die. And the only alternative left to get power is to take it by force, this is the reality on the ground.”
However, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in a statement by his spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, said he called the director-general of the SSS and told him he had a pending suit against the service over the event in Awka, Anambra State, during the governorship election, adding that as a result, he would not go to their office.
“I am willing to meet the SSS in my house or office, or, in the alternative, the SSS should produce a warrant of arrest,” el-Rufai said.
