The Delta State Government has disclosed that a sum of N1.65 billion was released to the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) for the month of July, 2017.

In a statement issued on Monday, Media Assistant to the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sam Ijeh, said the attention of the state government has been drawn to another orchestrated rumour making the rounds that the government released the sum of N500 million to Commission to pay contractors as well as run its affairs.

“The mischievous rumour, again, has exposed the writers as ignorant and wicked persons whose stock-in-trade is to cause unnecessary disaffection aimed at destroying the peaceful atmosphere existing in the state.”

The statement urged the people of Delta State not to be distracted but continue to support the government of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa “who is irrevocably committed to the overall development of the state.”
