Plans by Anambra people abroad to host Governor-Elect, Chief Willie Obiano, have reached an advanced stage. The reception being organised by USAfrica in collaboration with the Anambra Communities in the Diaspora is scheduled for 5pm this Saturday, January 11, 2014. Venue is the Hilton Westchase Towers, Houston, Texas, USA, with a Complimentary Dinner at the same venue by 7pm.

The invitation card sighted by News Express indicated that the event would provide an opportunity for Ndi Anambra abroad and Governor-Elect Obiano to “network to exchange ideas for the development of Anambra.”

News Express reports that Chief Obiano, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), won the Anambra State Governorship Election held on November 16, 17 and 30, 2013.

Chief Obiano polled 180,178 votes as against 97,700 votes by second-placed Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressive Congress (APC) came third with 95,953 votes.

Chief Obiano is to take over from incumbent Governor Peter Obi when he finishes his second four-year term in March.
