The year 2014 is one of fulfillment and Akwa Ibom will experience massive commissioning of more major projects in the state.
Governor Godswill Akpabio stated this yesterday during the midnight mass ushering in the new year at St. John’s Chaplaincy Government House, Uyo.
He thanked God for seeing the state through 2013 and called on clergy men in Akwa Ibom to intercede for the state through prayers as the 2015 governorship election approaches.
According to Akpabio, “2013 was a year full of lies and blackmails to tarnish the image of this administration. And I know more lies would be told in this 2014 as the 2015 governorship election approaches. So, we need more prayers and there is the need for all clergy men in the state to remain sane and to guide us with their prayers towards the forthcoming governorship election.”
The governor thanked God for averting the crash of an Aero Contractors flight in Lagos last Sunday and prayed that the nation would never experience any disaster in the new year.
In his homily, Most Rev. Anselem Umoren said the mass was to thank God for the bountiful blessings to the state in 2013. He called on Akwa Ibom people to realise that the strength of the state is from God.
Umoren expressed hope that with God on the side of the state, everything would go well. He called on the people to have great faith in God, trust in God and listen to the voice of God for direction and blessings to state.
