Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, has advised the people of Otu-Jeremi community to be peaceful and law abiding. Utuama gave the advice yesterday when he feted the community, from which he hails, at the Otu-Jeremi Model Primary School as part of his ‘thank you’ gesture for the people’s support and encouragement.
The deputy governor said: “I want to thank all of you for the unflinching support you have been given to us. We cannot do anything if you have not given us your support. Besides, I want to appeal to all of you, today is the last day of year 2013, we are going into a New Year as from tomorrow (today), I want to appeal to all of you to be peaceful, law abiding and do your work diligently. There can be no meaningful development when there is no peace. If the government has it in mind to do anything for you and this community, it will be possible only if there is peace. Therefore, continue to be the good people that I have always been proud of. Keep supporting the government of the state and do your bit to move the state forward. And may the New Year bring peace and plenitude to all of you.”
Utuama further urged the community to remain steadfast in their support for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “Continue to support the ruling party, the PDP. Be sure to remain steadfast and don’t be deceived by anybody. The party is for you, nurture it and continue to make it the dominant party in the state,” he said.
The occasion, which was graced by community elders, chiefs, women leaders, sundry women groups and many youth groups, was marked by dancing and feasting.
Prof. Utuama, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Nelly Utuama, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. Lucky Awheromre, other party leaders and family members, later gave out cash gifts to the various groups.
