The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General TY Buratai, haswarned officers of the Nigerian Army to desist from having anything to do with politics and politicians.
The COAS issued the warning following allegations that some individuals have beenapproaching some officers and soldiers for undisclosed political reasons. He also reminded them that Nigerian Army is a thorough professional, disciplined, loyal and apolitical institution that has clear Constitutional roles and responsibilities.
Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the COAS seriously warned and advised all officers and soldiers interested in politics to resign theircommission or apply for voluntary dischargeforthwith.
“Any officer or soldier of Nigerian Army found to be hobnobbing with such elements or engaged in unprofessional conducts such as politicking would have himself or herself to blame.
“The COAS has furtherreiterated that the Nigerian Army will remain apolitical and respect the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.
