Ministry wants end to discrimination against albinos, partners Foundation

Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has assured of the ministry’s willingness to partner with the Albino Foundation (TAF) to make life better for albinos in the country.

Alhaji Turaki made the promise when the TAF paid him a courtesy call in his office in Abuja. He promised to inform President Goodluck Jonathan about the meeting, with a view to expanding the crusade to eradicate discrimination against persons with albinism in Nigeria.

The minister made it clear that President Jonathan is concerned about the fate of every single Nigerian and is concerned about the plight of people with albinism.

In his response, TAF Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jake Epelle, represented by Mr. Afam Kasim, said the Federal Government has treated over 500 people with albinism free of charge and by so doing had reduced the number of albino death over the years.

He, however, called for more support for albinos to enable them assume their rightful place in the scheme of things in the country.
