All roads lead to Ijebu (Ogun State) for Chief Tola Adeniyi’s mother’s send-forth

Veteran Journalist and Syndicated Columnist Chief Tola Adeniyi will today, December 13, host hundreds of colleagues, friends, relations, well wishers and family members at the City Hall Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu, Ogun State.

A statement by Chief Adeniyi made available to News Express said all roads would lead to the town “as he gives a rousing Send-Forth to his 96-year-old Mother who commenced her journey in the Continuum on October 31, and was buried according to Islamic rites the next day.”

On the life and times of the woman, the statement said: “Madam (Princess) Selimot Eebudola Adeniyi, born into royal families in Ayepe, Ijebu-Ode, Odogbolu and Ago-Iwoye grew up in Liyangi, and Ijebu-Ode before finally settling down in 1939 with her late husband Prince Ambaliy Alaba Adeniyi who predeceased her January 31, 1992.

“Madam Adeniyi was an only child who lost her mother when she could hardly walk on her tender feet.

“A prominent community leader, remarkable for her extra-ordinary intelligence and vibrant memory, Matriarch Adeniyi was the family’s resident historian. She was a trader up till when she retired at age 80.

“Left to mourn her are four children Deaconess Sarah Adunni Ifenuga, a retired teacher; Chief Tola Adeniyi, Author and Publisher; Prince Olaitan Adeniyi, Toromogbe of Arelu fame; and Prince Bola Adeniyi, a Para-medical personnel and businessman. Tolu Adesegun her second daughter, predeceased her. Several grandchildren and great grand children are testimonials of her blessed womb.”
