APCON Chairman lashes OBJ over satanic letter to President Jonathan

Chairman of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Mr. Lolu Akinwumi, this evening lashed former president Olusegun Obasanjo over the uncomplimentary letter he wrote to incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan and leaked to the press.

Writing on his Facebook wall, the advertising guru who presides over the Prima Garnet Group said he decided to comment on “a couple of things” after reading “the piece from Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.”

Below is Akinwunmi’s verdict on the controversial 18-page letter which the Presidency last night dismissed as “self-serving, hypocritical, malicious, indecent, and very disrespectful of the highest office in the land”:

“One, he didn’t tell us anything new. Two, I think he was grandstanding and playing to the gallery, especially before his foreign audience. Three, some of the issues he referred to were either created under him or with his complicity. Four, i still believe as a former president and the immediate past BOT Chair of the PDP, he has been part of the problems.

“I see an attempt at grandstanding and piety, which he loves to do. Worse, in leaking the letter, he might have inadvertently done more harm to the country’s image. Now, while he may have some points, there is something nearly immoral seeing that it came from him. There is a Yoruba proverb that says, ‘Ti Okebadan ba fe gba maalu, enu alaaru ko ni a ma ti gbo” (Now how do I translate this to my non-Yoruba friends???)

“If this letter came from a Wole Soyinka one would understand. OBJ has lost credibility. He should stop acting like a statesman. He is not and can never be one.

“For example how would he talk of GEJ’s second term so religiously when he reportedly spent billions pursuing a third term that we all witnessed? He is a hypocrite and should shut up.

“I am sick of these people. May God help us.”
