A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, yesterday accused the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, of being the sponsor of the 181 All Progressives Congress (APC) members who claimed to be election observers but were arrested in Owerri, Imo State, on their way to Anambra for the November 16 governorship poll.
Omisore in a statement issued in Osogbo called on the Inspector General of Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor Aregbesola’s activities so as to ensure that he does not rig future elections in Osun State.
“What Aregbesola did was to test-run and perfect his rigging plans towards next year election in Osun Sate having declared to his APC members that his second term ambition is a do-or-die affair,” Omisore said.
He alleged that many of the fake forged accreditation documents to partake in Anambra gubernatorial election and are members of Ogbeni Aregbesola’s cabinet. Omisore wondered why investigation is not being extended to the sponsor and financier of the act to destabilise election in Anambra.
INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, had declared the 181 election observers to be fake as they were never accredited by the commission to monitor the election. The 181 have since been charged to court.
