Juju priest Iweajuo Gad
A few days after policemen killed Henry Chibueze a.k.a Vampire, the most wanted kidnapper in the South East and South South, his medicine man has been nabbed.
The juju priest, Iweajuo Gad, was arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abba Kyari, in Asoeme town, Aba, Abia State. He was picked during a raid by the operatives on his shrine.
A senior police officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Gad, 55, was a trusted juju man for Vampire, and prepared protective charms, including “bulletproof charms,” for him.
According to the source, the medicine man also prepared charms for various kidnappers and armed robbers in the South East.
Said he: “He is well respected by men of the underworld. When we raided his shrine, he was taken unawares, as he boasted that he would have disappeared.
“He has confessed to have given several bullet-repelling charms and disappearance charms to Vampire and his gang. He also confessed that he led three other herbalists to perform special rituals to enable Vampire escape from Owerri High Court.
“He confessed also that names of seven prison service officers were brought to him by Vampire’s brother to perfect the rituals that would disorganise and destabilise the officers during the rescue operations. He collected N200,000 for the ritual, and one week after the rescue, Vampire sent him another N50,000.”
Last week, Vampire was killed in a shootout with the police. According to the police spokesman, Chief Superintendent of Police Jimoh Moshood, the late kidnapper was killed in Omu Awa forest in Ikwerre, Rivers State.
Moshood said the “dreaded and deadly kidnap-for-ransom kingpin” was killed by IRT, while five members of his gang were arrested. A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them, he said.
Moshood also disclosed that the gang had been responsible for many kidnappings and robbery attacks in Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta and other states in the South-East and South-South.
“Chibueze, the Vampire, was the criminal spirited away by his gang members on January 27, 2017, at the premises of an Owerri High Court,” he said. (Daily Sun)
