Governor Masari
Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has signed a declaratory order banning any unlawful assembly in the state.
The order is contained in a statement issued to newsmen yesterday by the senior special adviser to the governor on media, Abdu Labaran. According to the statement, unlawful assembly covers all gatherings of two or more people who come together outside the dictates of the law. The statement said the order was in the exercise of the power conferred upon the governor by Section 97A of the Penal Code.
The statement said that Masari declared that any assembly, armed or not, that was out to cause public harm is affected by the order. The order is coming months after a similar one made by the
governor that banned all forms of illegal public gatherings in the state. The former order came to force after the reported clash between members of the Shia group and the military in Kaduna State. (Nigerian Pilot)
