The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has cried out in the face of growing evidence that Boko Haram terrorists are increasingly targeting Christians in the country’s troubled North-East.

CAN in a communiqué issued at the end of its special meeting held yesterday in Abuja lamented that this is happening despite the state of emergency in the region.

The association cited the attack on Ngoshe village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on November 3, in which eight Christians were killed and several churches burnt without any of the attackers being arrested.

According to it, “On the 3rd of this month at about 8pm, Boko Haram members attacked Ngoshe village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State and killed 8 Christians, who were identified as Baba Ayuba, Baba Bitrus and Baba Isa Biyabra, the security guard and four others whose names we are yet to get.

“They burnt 11 houses owned by the Christians and three churches, which were EYN church, Deeper Life Bible church and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). We were informed that when the Christian community sought to meet the state governor on this issue and he said he did not have the time to see them until February next year.”

CAN also alleged that Boko Haram on November 14 invaded another Christian-dominated village in Gwoza, killed two Christians, abducted three others and burnt more than 100 houses.
