Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in today’s governorship election in Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has predicted a landslide victory for himself.

The Aguleri High Chief who voted at Eri Primary School, Aguleri, made the prediction while speaking with newsmen.

“I can smell victory,” he said. “I’m looking forward to a landslide victory.”

Obiano dismissed the rumour that he had either been disqualified or withdrawn from the race, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers.

“I am still very much in the race. The rumour is the handiwork of my opponents,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Chris Ngige, have continued to cry foul over the shortage of materials and late reporting for duty in some of its strongholds by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as a ploy to rig the election.

Among the biggest victims of the hitches are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye, and his family members – they could not vote as their names were conspicuously missing from the voters’ register.

News Express reports that the election was peaceful but marked by low turnout of voters. Collation of results by INEC is currently in progress.
