Nigerian star Kelechi Iheanacho could leave Bursaspor if an extraordinary offer is made, according to club president Enes Çelik.
Responding to growing interest from Süper Lig giants Fenerbahçe, Çelik acknowledged that while 99% of fans want to keep the 30-year-old forward, management must remain logical and evaluate any “absurd” financial proposals in the best interest of the TFF First League club.
Iheanacho has had a sensational impact at Bursaspor, scoring 16 goals across his first 13 appearances and finding the net in 12 matches as he leads the club’s promotion charge.
“If a poll were conducted, 99% would say he absolutely shouldn’t be sold,” Celik said on Turkinform as per African Football.
“I understand that, but we’re not just looking at it emotionally. We also have to look at the situation logically. Iheanacho is a player who scores goals when there’s no real chance.
“I want him to stay in the team more than anyone. But there might be some absurd figures involved. If there are, we, as the management, will evaluate them. Ultimately, we set out to do what’s right for the club.”
Iheanacho will hope to be included in Nigeria’s squad for the double-header against Tanzania in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this November. (The Nation)
