Obi and Kwankwaso
By BONIFACE AKARAH
The Peter Obi Media (POMR) has celebrated Nigerian musicians at home and abroad who have used their songs to express political support for the Peter Obi–Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso project, describing their creativity as part of the country’s cultural heritage and national conversation.
In a statement issued on Saturday, October 17, 2026, and signed electronically by its spokesman, Idris Zekeri Jnr, POMR marked World Singing Day by recognising artists whose songs have communicated hopes and aspirations for a better Nigeria.
The group singled out KASI, a young Anambra-born singer whose song, “Peter Obi or Nothing”, it said, captured the enthusiasm of supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) 2027 Presidential Candidate.
It also recognised Tijjani Gandu, associated with the Hausa-language song “Obi-Kwankwaso Clear”, and Mr DapBoy, whose song “Lokaci” expresses support for Peter Obi’s 2027 aspiration.
According to POMR, the musicians have used their talents to communicate political convictions and the desire for national renewal through music.
“We acknowledge every young and emerging artist who has embraced music as a vehicle for expressing political convictions, hopes for national renewal, and the desire for a Nigeria that works for everyone,” the statement said.
The organisation noted that Nigeria’s musical diversity, spanning Igbo highlife, Hausa melodies, Yoruba rhythms, English and Nigerian Pidgin, reflects the country’s cultural richness and potential for unity.
“To Nigeria’s singers and musicians, we affirm that your talent is valuable, your creativity merits recognition, and your voices form an essential part of the nation’s cultural heritage,” POMR stated.
It urged musicians to continue using their talents responsibly to promote peace, unity, hope and meaningful national dialogue.
“On this World Singing Day, we honour you not only for the songs you perform but also for the creativity, courage, and passion you contribute to our national conversation,” the group added.
POMR concluded by wishing Nigerian singers at home and abroad a happy World Singing Day, expressing hope that their diverse voices would continue to enrich shared humanity and inspire efforts to build a better Nigeria.
