A man has suffered serious injuries after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in South Yorkshire, England, according to police.
Sky News reported on Saturday, October 10, 2026, that emergency services were called to the park near Doncaster following the incident.
South Yorkshire Police said they had “received reports of a man entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park” on Saturday afternoon.
“The tiger has subsequently attacked the man and this has resulted in serious injury,” the police said, adding that officers were trying to contact the man’s family.
The force said the tiger remained inside the enclosure and there was “no wider risk to the public”.
The park was evacuated following the incident, while police remained at the scene to investigate.
In a statement, Yorkshire Wildlife Park said, “Our emergency response procedures were immediately activated, and emergency services are currently attending the scene.”
The park added, “We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened.”
It also said the “safety and wellbeing of visitors, staff and animals remain our highest priority”.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene at 1.30pm on Saturday.
“We sent a number of resources, including two land ambulances, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and a doctor,” a spokesperson said.
The park was closed for the rest of the weekend following the incident.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park describes itself as a walk-through wildlife attraction housing animals including lions, giraffes, tigers, leopards and black rhinos.
According to its website, a 300-metre raised walkway runs through its Land of the Tigers section, allowing visitors to view the animals in their habitat.
Police said investigations into the incident were ongoing. (The PUNCH)
