ABER Ghana National Coordinator Obiri
The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has appointed Mr. Francis Nana Kwame Obiri, Managing Partner of Deep Group, as its National Coordinator and Ghana Representative.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, is expected to strengthen ABER’s presence in Ghana and expand its engagement in the country’s emerging Blue Economy sector.
ABER said Obiri’s appointment was based on his leadership experience, entrepreneurial record, professional network and commitment to sustainable development and maritime enterprise.
As National Coordinator, Obiri will represent ABER in Ghana and coordinate its programmes, membership activities and partnerships with government and private-sector stakeholders.
He will also facilitate collaboration with academia, coastal communities and development partners to advance ABER’s Blue Economy agenda in the country.
The coordinator is expected to promote Ghana’s participation in continental ABER programmes, including the ABER Women’s Forum, Blue Tourism Initiative and Coastal Sanitation Corps.
Others are the ABER Youth in Blue Economy Forum and other programmes designed to promote sustainable use of Africa’s marine and coastal resources.
Obiri will also support policy advocacy in Ghana in line with the Africa Blue Economy Strategy, Lomé Charter and African Union Agenda 2063.
He is required to submit quarterly reports to the ABER Continental Secretariat and uphold the organisation’s principles of integrity, mutual respect and Pan-African solidarity.
The appointment is renewable every two years, subject to performance, and empowers Obiri to act for ABER in Ghana in accordance with its Charter and operational guidelines.
ABER Convener and Founder, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, expressed confidence that Obiri would build a strong national structure capable of translating the organisation’s Blue Economy agenda from policy to practice.
Kiyaramo said the appointment was part of efforts to deepen ABER’s national presence and strengthen country-level participation in Africa’s Blue Economy transformation.
