The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.

The results were announced on Thursday, by the NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

A total of 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 eventually sat for it.

According to NECO, 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics. A further 1,162,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

The examination was conducted from June 15 to July 23, 2026, while the nationwide marking exercise took place from August 17 to September 4.

What You Need To Check Your NECO Result

Before checking your result, make sure you have:

Your NECO examination registration number.

A valid NECO result-checking token.

A phone, tablet or computer with internet access.

The official NECO results portal is results.neco.gov.ng. Candidates should be cautious of unofficial websites requesting examination details or payments.

How To Check Your 2026 NECO Result

1. Visit the NECO results portal

Open your internet browser and go to the official NECO results portal:

The portal provides fields for selecting the examination year and examination type, entering a token and registration number, and checking the result.

2. Select the examination year

Select 2026 as the examination year.

3. Select the examination type

For candidates who sat for the school-based June/July examination, select SSCE INTERNAL (JUN/JUL).

Candidates who sat for the private examination should select the applicable SSCE EXTERNAL option.

4. Enter your result-checking token

Type the token number purchased for checking the result.

Ensure the token is entered correctly before proceeding.

5. Enter your registration number

Enter your NECO examination registration number in the space provided.

Check the number carefully to avoid errors.

6. Check your result

Click “Check my result”.

If the details entered are correct and the result is available, your 2026 NECO SSCE result will be displayed on the screen.

Candidates may save a digital copy of the result or print it for their records.

What If You Do Not Have a Result Token?

Candidates who do not have a valid result-checking token can purchase one through the NECO results portal.

On the official portal, select “Purchase token” and follow the instructions provided.

Candidates who already have a NECO account can log in, while new users can create an account before purchasing a token. The results portal currently provides both “Purchase token” and “Create account” options.

Because token prices and available payment options can change, candidates should rely on the amount displayed on the official NECO portal at the time of purchase rather than information circulating on social media or third-party websites.

How Many Times Can a NECO Token Be Used?

NECO’s result-checking system has previously allowed a result-checking token to be used multiple times for the same candidate’s result. Candidates should, however, check the current terms displayed on the official portal when purchasing a token.

A token should not be confused with the examination registration number. The registration number identifies the candidate’s examination record, while the token is used to access the result.

2026 NECO Result: Key Figures

The 2026 SSCE Internal examination recorded:

1,378,048 candidates registered.

1,371,992 candidates sat for the examination.

1,406 candidates were involved in reported examination malpractice.

The examination was conducted across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as six foreign countries: Benin Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Saudi Arabia.
