The Osun House of Assembly has passed the state’s Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management System Bill, aimed at ending multiple ticketing in motor parks across the state.

The bill, sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport, Mr Abiola Ibrahim, was passed at plenary on Wednesday in Osogbo.

The Majority Leader of the House, Mr Babajide Adewumi, moved the motion for the third reading and passage of the bill, which was seconded by Mr Taofiq Olayiwola, representing Ede South Constituency.

The bill seeks to regulate and digitally administer commercial transportation, traffic, motor parks, terminals, loading points and related transport infrastructure in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a major provision of the bill is the introduction of a digitalised ticketing system designed to eliminate multiple ticketing in motor parks.

The system is also expected to promote transparency in revenue collection and reduce the financial burden associated with multiple ticketing on transport operators.

The bill further seeks to strengthen the protection of passengers and other motor park users, improve accountability in the transport sector and provide a coordinated framework for the management of motor parks.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Adewale Egbedun, directed that the clean copy of the bill be forwarded to the governor for his assent.

Egbedun said that when assented to, the bill was expected to provide a digitalised and coordinated system for ticketing and management of motor parks in the state. (NAN)
