A Kano Sharia Court has ordered the state’s correctional authorities to provide special care for Yusuf Mahmud Rano, who allegedly cut off his finger after being promised N80 million to produce it.

The court, sitting in Jogana, issued the order while continuing proceedings in the case involving Yusuf and four others accused of conspiracy and attempted sorcery.

The judge, Malam Kamalu Haruna, said the court could not deliver judgment as earlier scheduled on Monday because government lawyers were expected to participate in the proceedings.

He adjourned the case to Thursday, September 17, 2026, and ordered that the first to fourth defendants remain in custody until then.

The judge also reiterated the directive to the Kano State Correctional Service to ensure Yusuf receives adequate medical attention and special care while in custody.

The Kano State Police Command charged Abdurrahman Abbas Kwasamgwami Gezawa, Sha’aibu Yawale Daganawa Bunkure, Abubakar Iliyasu Zangon Dakata, Ishaq Isah Rano and Yusuf Mahmud Rano with the offences.

The defendants had pleaded guilty at the previous sitting. (Daily Trust)
