The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, was among thousands of dignitaries who attended the Janazah prayer for the late elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, in his family compound in Yola, Adamawa State.

The Governor joined family members, dignitaries and well-wishers in paying their final respects and praying for the repose of the soul of the departed elder statesman.

The former Governor of the defunct Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, was laid to rest in Yola on Sunday at about 11:30am amid tributes from political leaders, businessmen, family members and other sympathisers who attended his funeral prayers and burial.

The funeral prayers, held at the Lamido’s Palace in Yola, were attended by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley; Adamawa APC governorship candidate, Tijjani Ahmed Galadima; former Governor Umaru Bindow Jibrilla; and business mogul Aliko Dangote, among other prominent personalities.

The Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Jumma’at Mosque, Khadi Ahmadu Bobboi, led the funeral prayers before the remains of the late elder statesman were conveyed to his final resting place in Yola.

Speaking to newsmen during the burial, Governor Fintiri described Tukur’s death as a great loss, saying his contributions had left a significant gap.

Also speaking, Alhaji Aliko Dangote described the death as a colossal loss, not only to his family but to Adamawa State, the nation and the entire global business community. (Sunday Tribune, excluding headline)
