A matriculation date circulating among newly admitted students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, is not authorised by the university, management has said, according to a statement obtained by The PUNCH on Sunday.

The university said that a notice announcing September 23, 2026, as the date for students to sign a matriculation list was false.

The clarification is notable because the university has already distributed the matriculation lists to its faculties for the 2025/2026 academic session and set September 30 as the deadline for returning the completed lists to the Registrar’s Office, according to disclosures through an official memo.

That deadline, however, does not mean that students are expected to begin signing on September 23, the university said.

In a statement signed by the Registrar, Olayinka Balogun, LAUTECH said the university was currently on break and that its faculty offices had not begun the exercise.

“The matriculation list signing exercise has not commenced,” the university said, adding that a commencement date would be announced through its official channels after resumption.

The August 24 internal memo, also signed by Ms Balogun, confirms that the matriculation lists for newly admitted 100 Level and Direct Entry students had been sent to the faculties.

Faculty officers were instructed to obtain students’ signatures against their names and return three completed copies to the Registrar’s Office “on or before Wednesday, 30th September, 2026.”

The memo describes the matriculation list as “an important statutory document of the university.”

But nothing in the memo establishes September 23 as the date on which students are to begin signing. The university said the date being circulated online should therefore be disregarded. (PUNCH)
