The Jigawa State Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology Prof. Isa Yusuf Chamo has slammed an infinite suspension on the Director of Dutse Mega Schools, Malam Abdullahi Shehu, citing alleged negligence to duties.

Similarly, the commissioner has also issued a verbal warning to the Director of the School of Arabic and Islamic Studies (SAIS), Fatara, Malam Garba Yaro for reported laxity to official responsibilities.

The commissioner’s actions followed an unscheduled visit to the institutions barely 72-hours after the resumption of schools in the state for the 2026/2027 academic activities, with a view to ascertaining the level of preparation of the schools in the state for academic activities.

The commissioner, who ordered the suspended director to report to the ministry for further action, expressed disappointment at the school’s administrator’s negligence to duty, describing it as highly embarrassing.

He decried the school management’s failure to meet its mandate in running the affairs of the school despite the government funding in the sector of education.

He further directed the Ministry’s Director of Schools, Mustapha Abdullahi Ringim to look into the issue of teachers’ absenteeism in the school in order to take further necessary action.

At the School of Arabic and Islamic Studies Fatara, Dutse, the commissioner inspected the completed renovation of classes and school administrative block, where he warned the director of the school on the need to improve the school services for effective teaching and learning.

The commissioner also visited Dutse Model International School, (DMIS) in Fatara, where he inspected the ongoing renovation of classes and students hostels to ascertain the level of work done. He also inspected the ongoing construction of a workshop for technical and vocational education. (The Sun)
