No fewer than 174 candidates have been fielded by 12 political parties to contest the 26 seats in Ekiti State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election.
The candidates are spread across the 26 state constituencies in the state, according to a document signed by Ekiti State Legal Officer I of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Sina Ogundana, and obtained by our correspondent.
The document showed that All Progressives Congress (APC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) each fielded 26 candidates, making them among the parties with the highest number of candidates for the legislative contest.
Also fielding candidates in all the 26 constituencies are New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), while Social Democratic Party (SDP) also has 26 candidates on the list.
