Tragedy struck on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Bluestone Treasure Estate in the Ofada-Mowe area of Ogun State when a man, Temitope Adebiri, allegedly beat his neighbour, Oje Mike Eje, to death with a plank following an accusation that the victim had played roughly with his four-year-old son.

Eje was a fresh graduate of Benue State University and worked as a housekeeper for ILOT, a company located within the Bluestone Treasure Estate. Adebiri’s residence is also in the vicinity of the company.

Narrating what transpired, Eje’s sister, Blessing Iduma, said her brother had arrived at work on the fateful day when Adebiri’s two children were playing outside.

According to her, Eje carried the younger child, who was about four years old, and playfully threw him into the air before catching him. The older child, said to be about seven years old, reportedly ran to alert his father about what he had seen.

Iduma alleged that when Adebiri emerged from his apartment, he descended on Eje with blows. She further alleged that Adebiri picked up a plank and struck Eje twice. First on the waist and then on the head, with the latter blow proving fatal.

Eje’s sister said Adebiri subsequently turned himself in at the Mowe Police Station.

It was gathered that the suspect’s family had sought a settlement, but the deceased’s family reportedly rejected the proposal.

As of the time of filing this report, the case had been transferred to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Efforts to reach the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, were unsuccessful, as his phone was unreachable. A WhatsApp message sent to his number had also not been responded to as of the time of filing this report. (TheNiche, but headline rejigged)
