Yero reviews 2013 budget performance, challenges Kaduna civil servants

Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State has commenced the review of the 2013 budget performance of all Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.

Speaking during the session of the budget review sessions today at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, the governor said the 2013 budget review exercise is aimed at enhancing performance of the various MDAs in line with the commitment of the present administration to entrenching transparency, probity and accountability in governance.

He restated the resolve of the present administration to creating an active and well motivated civil service in the state. Governor Yero reaffirmed his readiness to carry all stakeholders along especially civil servants in the process of achieving his objectives of bringing lasting peace, unity and development to the people.

According to him, “Civil servants are the engine room of any meaningful development that we target to achieve. I therefore charge you to generate new ideas – be proactive and remain committed in doing your various jobs so as to improve the quality of lives of the good people of Kaduna state.”

Governor Yero said his administration is for all the people of Kaduna State without any exemptions saying: “I want to carry everybody along, but we must remember that we have a responsibility to chart a new course towards developing the state. We must remember that posterity will judge all of us on our collective and respective actions as we do our work.”

In a similar development, the governor told visiting executive members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by its President, Comrade Abdulwahed Omar, that his administration recently paid leave and transport grant to all civil servants in the state in order to motivate them to put in more hard work in the task of moving the state forward.

Gov. Yero said it is imperative for civil servants to key into government policies because of their prominent role implementation of the policies as this will also encourage good governance, pointing out that government will ensure its provide all the necessary tools for workers to enhance service delivery.

While re-assuring government determination to invest hugely in workers, he appealed to all civil servants in the state to have change of attitude towards their work and to improve their inputs while discharging their duties.

The governor commended NLC for its contribution in stabilising the country and appealed for its collaboration with government to improve the capacity of workers.

Speaking, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Abdulwahed Umar, saidtheir decision to hold their National Executive Council Meeting (NEC) in Kaduna was informed by the peaceful nature of the state. He commended Gov. Yero for his efforts in ensuring a peaceful and united state.
