Anioma Voice condemns murder of 80-year-old Italian missionary in Delta State

Anioma Voice Worldwide Foundation has condemned the recent murder of an 80-year-old Italian missionary in Anioma land of Delta State in Nigeria’s South-South.

The group in a statement made available to News Express deeply mourned Rev. Sr. Marcelina Alfra, regretting “this gruesome and dastardly act of murder of this humble and selfless woman who committed almost all her entire adult life to the service of humanity, especially of Anioma people.”

Rev. Sr. Marcelina Alfra, popularly referred to as Regina Mundi, was reportedly attacked and murdered by unknown gunmen in Ogwashi-Uku, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. She had lived in Ogwashi-Uku for about 50 years doing philanthropic and humanitarian work.

The beloved missionary was attacked by hoodlums who got into the house through the roof and slashed her with machetes in the head. She was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where she died. “We call on the relevant authorities, particularly the office of the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, to action, using all necessary crime investigation apparatuses at his disposal to investigate and bring the culprits to book in the shortest possible time,” Anioma Voice Worldwide Foundation said in the statement jointly signed by Chief Messenger, Comrade Akamesike Emmanuel Okonne; National Public Relations Messenger, Comrade Victor Kpamiose; and National General Messenger, Comrade Geoffrey Elunor.

Continuing, the statement said: “We expect that the same urgency of purpose and dispatch that was displayed in solving the kidnap case of Queen Okonjo, the mother of the current Minister of Finance, in the same Ogwashi Uku a few months ago, will also be employed in this particular case. “Anioma Voice Worldwide Foundation is appalled at the incessant killings and kidnap of innocent people across Anioma nation and other parts of Delta State and strongly request that those in authority and in charge of security matters in the state, as a matter of necessity, up their efforts to safe guarding the lives and properties of law abiding citizens of the state.”
