Arsenal Ladies and Nigeria forward Asisat Oshoala has been shortlisted to vie for the CAF Women's Player of the Year for 2016.
Also, two of Nigeria's men players, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi, are in the running for the Most Promising Talent and Youth Player of the Year awards respectively.
Oshoala will have to compete with a strong field of players for the Women's Player of the Year award. Ghana's Elizabeth Addo, Cameroon's Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene, Janine Van Wyk of South Africa and Raissa Feudjio Tchuanyo are also in the mix for the women's award.
Winner of the women's award in 2015, Cameroon's Gaëlle Enganamouit is not listed.
However, 22-year-old Oshoala won the award in 2014 and will be hoping to claim it this time on the back of Nigeria's success in Cameroon, where they won the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
In the Most Promising Talent category, Manchester City forward Iheanacho will go up against his countryman, Oghenekaro Etebo, who won the award last year. DR Congo's Elia Meschak, Naby Keita of Guinea and Egypt's Ramadan Sobhi are also listed.
Arsenal star, Iwobi, on the other hand, will have beat off the challenge of Ghana under-17 player Eric Ayiah, Franck Kessie of Ivory Coast, Sandra Owusu-Ansah of Ghana's Supreme Ladies and Malian under-20 star Sidiki Maiga if he wants to claim the Youth Player of the Year.
Super Falcons head coach, Florence Omagbemi is also listed for the Coach of the Year alongside Florent Ibenge of DR Congo, Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic of Uganda, MO Bejaia's Nacer Sandjak and Pitso Mosimane of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Nigeria’s under-23s and the Super Falcons also make the shortlist of Caf for the National Team of the Year and the Women's National Team of the Year respectively.
The winners will be announced when the gala of the 2016 Glo-Caf Awards holds in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, on January 5, 2017. © supersport.com
