President Bola Tinubu on Saturday led an array of political leaders, and traditional rulers to Jos, Plateau, for the wedding ceremony of Ichi Doro, daughter of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro.

Tinubu admonished the newly weds, Ichi and her husband, Mr Fidelis Iliya, to build their home on love, trust and respect.

Tinubu gave the advice during the solemnisation of holy matrimony between Doro and Iliya at the ECWA Gospel Church 2, Jos.

This is contained in a statement by Dr Abimbola Fasanu, Senior Technical Adviser on Information Systems and Data Analysis to the Minister on Sunday in Abuja.

Tinubu, represented by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, congratulated the couple on their union.

“I urge you to build your home on love, mutual respect, patience and faithfulness.

“I celebrate with your family on this joyful occasion and wish the couple a lifetime of peace, happiness and fulfilment.

“May you also emulate the virtues of dedication, integrity and commitment that have distinguished Dr Bernard Doro in both public and private life,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu further described the father of the bride as a dependable, loyal and committed member of the administration, whose dedication to public service has continued to earn him respect within government and beyond.

He acknowledged the minister’s passion for service and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable Nigerians through the programmes and policies of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

According to the statement, the governor of Plateau, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang, in his remarks described Doro as a longstanding friend, whose family is widely respected for its humility, kindness and generosity.

According to the governor, the groom had not only married into a reputable family but had also found another home filled with warmth and genuine affection.

“Dr Doro is an old friend whose family has consistently demonstrated kindness and compassion.

“The groom is indeed fortunate to become part of this family. I pray that God grants the couple a peaceful, fruitful and enduring marriage,” Mutfwang said.

The statement also mentioned that, the officiating minister, Rev. Ayuba Asheshe, charged the newly wedded couple to make God the centre of their marriage.

According to Asheshe, lasting homes are built on trust, forgiveness, sincerity and unwavering commitment to one another.

Drawing from biblical teachings on marriage, the cleric urged the couple to remain faithful, tolerant and prayerful, adding that love should always triumph over differences.

The church service featured special prayers for the couple, their families and the nation, while hymns and choral renditions added solemnity to the ceremony.

The wedding drew guests from across Nigeria, underscoring the minister’s longstanding relationships across political, religious and social circles.

Also, the humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction minister was quoted to have expressed appreciation to the guests.

He said he was deeply humbled by the overwhelming show of love and solidarity demonstrated by those who travelled from different parts of the country to honour his family.

“I am overwhelmed by the calibre of personalities and the number of people, who have come to celebrate with my family today.

“I sincerely appreciate every one of you for identifying with us on this special occasion,” Doro said.

The minister described the wedding of his daughter as one of the happiest moments of his life, noting that while he would miss her presence at home, he was grateful to witness her begin a new phase of life.

“I am delighted to see my precious daughter get married. It is indeed a thing of joy for every parent, though I know I will miss her greatly.

“We will allow the couple to decide what they want and how they want to build their family, we will not interfere in the marriage.

“My prayer is that God will continue to guide both of them as they begin this journey together.

“I have advised the couple, especially my daughter, to ensure that peace, understanding and mutual respect remain the foundation of their home.

“A successful marriage is built on love, patience and sacrifice,” Doro added.

The wedding was chaired by Chief Jerry Joseph Damara- APC Senatorial Candidate, Gombe South.

Other personalities at the event are, APC Plateau Chairman, Rufus Bature and Former governor of Plateau, Chief Joshua Dariye.

Also at the event were, Sen. Diket Plang, Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, Rep. Ishaya David Lalu, and Dalyop Fom amongst many others.

The event was also attended by some current cabinet members, a former Minister of Women affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, deputy governors of Yobe, and Benue and members of the federal executive councils among others. (NAN)
