Nigerian-American engineer Yinka Ogunbiyi
A Nigerian-American engineer and Harvard University graduate, Yinka Ogunbiyi, has developed what is described as the world’s first braid-assist robot, HaloBraid, designed to reduce the physical strain on hairstylists and improve efficiency in salons.
According to information shared about the innovation, HaloBraid assists with the braiding process, helping stylists save time while easing the repetitive physical demands associated with hair braiding.
The innovation has reportedly attracted significant investor interest, raising $7 million in funding. More than 7,000 salons have also joined the waiting list to adopt the technology.
The robot is being promoted as an innovation with global potential, highlighting the growing role of technology in transforming the beauty industry and improving productivity for professional hairstylists.
Ogunbiyi, a Nigerian-American engineer and Harvard graduate, is credited with leading the development of the product, which aims to modernise hair-braiding services through robotics and automation. (AriseNews TV)
