The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to meet the August 8 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) for uploading governorship and House of Assembly candidates details into the portal.

Also, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken steps to resolve the grievances arising from the primaries in some states chapters.

A source said while the party is driving digital compliance by ensuring that the candidates’ are uploaded into the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP), it is also reconciling aggrieved members in a bid to ensure unity and peace.

According to the source, the APC reconciliation train has moved to Oyo to resolve the dispute over the choice of Senator Shafaradeen Alli as governorship candidate.

The president met Alli, Senator Teslim Folarin and other party leaders at the State House, Abuja, last night as part of efforts to ensure cohesion in the chapter ahead of the 2027 elections.

They are Dr. Obafemi Hamzat (Lagos), Senator Solomon (Ogun), Umar Mohammed Bago (Niger), Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada (Nasarawa), Yakubu Salihu Danladi (Kwara), Rev. Father Hyacinth Iormem Alia (Benue), Ahmed Galadima (Adamawa), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau).

A special committee set up by the National Working Committee (NEC) and chaired by Jibrin Bancir thoroughly verifief the completed nomination documents before handing them over for digital scanning and submission.

Sources close to the committee said additional seven governorship candidates were cleared yesterday.

A member of the vetting committee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said APC would meet the deadline.

He said: “As at today, no fewer than 13 governorship candidates’ details have been uploaded. “Another set of five governorship candidates’ nomination documents have been passed to the ICT for scanning and uploading. (The Nation)
