Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) have arrested suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and rescued kidnapped victims in separate operations in Zamfara, Katsina and Kebbi states.

The Media Information Officer of OPFY, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the operations, conducted between July 19 and 20, were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and kidnapping networks and to rescue victims.

According to Danja, on July 20, troops responded swiftly to a distress call from residents of Shiyan Abiyola in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State after terrorists attempted to abduct civilians from a residence.

“The prompt intervention of the troops forced the terrorists to abandon the operation and flee, leading to the successful rescue of several residents. Troops subsequently secured the general area to forestall any further threat,” he said.

The military spokesperson said that on July 19, troops on patrol in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State rescued three kidnapped victims who had escaped from a terrorist hideout after taking advantage of a heavy downpour while their captors were asleep.

“The victims, who were abducted on July 14, 2026, while working on their farms in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, were subsequently handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families,” he said.

He added that on July 19, troops intercepted a vehicle carrying 10 motorcycles suspected of being destined for terrorist elements during a routine stop-and-search operation in Kebbi State.

He said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of four additional suspects believed to have been sent to receive the motorcycles on behalf of a known terrorist collaborator.

“The suspects and the recovered motorcycles remain in custody for further investigation and necessary action,” Danja said. (The Nation)
