The traditional ruler of Obosi Kingdom in Idemmili North Local Government Area of Anambra State,Igwe AC Iweka III, Eze Obosi, has endorsed Chief Willie Obiano, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the November 16 gubernatorial election in the state.
The endorsement came days to opening of activities marking this year’s Ofala festival at the Afo Adike Stadium in Obosi on October 19.
Igwe Iweka III, who spoke while receiving the APGA Team in his palace, expressed a strong conviction that in Chief Obiano, APGA has picked the right candidate to maintain and expand the vision of governance the party had enthroned in the state under Governor Peter Obi.
The highly revered traditional ruler also gave the assurances of his cabinet and the entire Obosi town that Chief Obiano would get their support and good will in the coming election.
According to him, although the clamour for the next governor of the state to come from Anambra North Senatorial Zone is valid, Chief Obiano stands out as the best candidate to be voted, purely on merit. The royal father therefore pledged his support to the party’s plan to ensure that the leadership of the state does not slide back into the hands of some elements whose background creates anxiety in the minds of the electorate.
Earlier in his remarks, Chief Obiano had assured Igwe Iweka III that his entry into the race was to ensure that the great work done by Governor Peter Obi would be handed over to someone who could interpret his vision and expand it to the maximum benefit of the Anambra people.
According to him, it would be unfortunate if the tremendous progress the state had recorded under Obi is allowed to go down the drain because of lack of continuity in vision and commitment.
“The challenge of continuity has been taken care of by my 4Cs Paradigm which stands for Continue all existing projects, Complete all of them, Commission them immediately after completion and Commence a fresh set of revolutionary initiatives that will turn Anambra State into an industrial giant,” Chief Obiano explained.
The APGA flagbearer also revealed that he had marked out four key areas that would form the major touchstones of his administration with a concept he referred to as The Wheel, which essentially revolves aroundTrade and Commerce, Industrialization, Agriculture and Oil and Gas.
“The Wheel forms the core of my 10 Pillars of Development which consists of 10 key areas where my administration will concentrate a lot of efforts in order to accelerate the transformation of Anambra State into an economic powerhouse. My 10 Pillars of Development include education, health, infrastructure development, commerce and industry, housing and urban development, agriculture, security and social welfare, the environment, tourism, sports and youth development and administration and civil service,” he further explained.
Chief Obiano called on the paramount ruler, members of his cabinet and the entire Obosi town to stand behind APGA as it is the only party that exists to preserve the interests of Ndigbo. As he put it: “ÄPGA is the only political shelter that Ndigbo have over their heads in Nigeria. Our great hero, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, knew what he was doing when he spent the twilight years of his life fighting to bring Ndigbo together under APGA. It would be unfortunate for our people to overlook this important legacy.”
