Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe
The Delta State Police Command has arrested 202 suspects during a raid on identified criminal hideouts, black spots, brothels and suspected illicit drug dens across the Asaba metropolis.
The operation, carried out on Saturday, July 4, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, alongside other officers of the command.
The raid followed credible intelligence from the State Intelligence Department (SID).
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the raid led to the arrest of 102 males and 100 females for alleged offences ranging from operating brothels to possession and sale of illicit drugs, as well as other related crimes.
The police spokesman also said operatives impounded five vehicles, 10 tricycles and 10 motorcycles for violating traffic regulations, the state-imposed restriction on tricycle operations and the ban on motorcycles in designated areas.
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi said the command would sustain intelligence-driven policing and enforcement operations to tackle all forms of criminality across the state.
He assured residents that the command would continue to deny criminals operating space and urged members of the public to support the police with credible and timely information. (The Nation)
