Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has formally transmitted to the Gombe State House of Assembly a list of 23 nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council, seeking legislative approval in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
In a letter dated June 29, 2026, and addressed to the Speaker, Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, the governor invoked Section 192 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), requesting the Assembly’s approval to appoint the nominees to assist in the formulation and implementation of government policies and the effective administration of the state.
The nominees derived from the 11 LGAs of the state forwarded are; Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri, Alhaji Sanusi Ahmed and Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed Bose Ahmed (Akko LGA); Engr. Bala Adams and Mr. Micah Sunday Hamman (Balanga LGA); Mohammed Saidu Mohammed andBarr. Lawinin Dankuka Faruk (Billiri LGA); Muhammad Gambo Magaji and Prof. Aishatu Umaru Maigari (Dukku LGA); Barr. Zubairu M. Umar and Adamu Dishi Kupto (Funakaye LGA).
Others are Shehu Yerima Abdullahi, Ibrahim Shehu Turaki and Barr. Sani Ahmed Haruna (Gombe LGA); Moses Kyari Bolda and Yusuf K. Jalingo (Kaltungo LGA); Dr Usman Maijama’a Kallamu and Prof. Danladi Adamu Bojude (Kwami LGA); Alhaji Salihu Baba Alkali (Nafada); Dr Bertha Danja (Shongom); Dr. Habu Dahiru, Nasiru Muhammad Aliyu and Barr. Yusuf Abdu Kwadon (Yamaltu/Deba LGA).
The governor noted in the correspondence that the nominees were carefully selected to provide policy direction and functional contributions necessary for the efficient running of the machinery of government and the consolidation of the administration’s development agenda.
In the letter, Governor Yahaya expressed confidence in the Assembly’s consideration of the request and conveyed the assurances of his highest regard to the Honourable House.
Our correspondent reports that the lawmakers are expected to commence the screening and confirmation process in the coming days, after which the successful nominees will be sworn in and assigned portfolios to drive the next phase of the administration’s governance and development programmes.
