It Is Amusan’s third consecutive Diamond League win, adding to recent victories in Rabat and Taiwan. The world record holder also runs a 12.28s race for the third time in her glistering career to win the race.
The Ogun State-born athlete was not the quickest out of the starting blocks, and had to wait until the eighth of ten hurdles to stamp her authority on the race that saw Nadine Visser finish in fourth place.
Amusan rode patiently in fourth place before turning on the afterburners at the seventh hurdle to take pole position, blasting past the field with the fastest time over the final 30metres to seal a victory that was never in doubt.
Amusan’s next race is at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, US, where she set her world record time of 12.12s, on July 4. (Daily Trust)
