World Cup Qualifier: Super Eagles land in Ethiopia, set for the battle of Addis Ababa

A 243-strong Nigeria delegation arrived at the Addis Ababa Bole Airport this morning for tomorrow’s Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.

The team consisted of Super Eagles players, officials, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board members and secretariat staff, as well as members of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club and media crews.

The team flew five hours on Ethiopia Airline’s new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Head coach Stephen Keshi told KickOffNigeria.com on arrival that his boys were relaxed and looking forward to a good game.

“It was a great journey, very smooth and we are here now. So far we haven’t felt the effects of the altitude yet, but we will go and train later today and see how things go,” he said.

Captain Vincent Enyeama, who was part of the squad the last time they flew to Entebbe to refuel and ended up spending nearly 10 hours, was equally pleased.

“I would just like to say thank you to whoever organised this flight. This was better than the last time. Now we’ll just have to get some rest, train and prepare for Sunday.”

Keshi says he will be comfortable with any result that makes Nigerians proud, as long as the Super Eagles don’t lose to Ethiopia.

Hear him: “Any result that makes Nigerians proud will be a good result for me. As long as we don't lose, any result that comes out is a good result.

“We just have to keep our calm. No matter how they try to provoke us, we just have to concentrate, leave it out. It's going to happen; it's the African way of winning games sometimes.

“We’ve gone through that as players and now as a coach, so we just have to out it aside as if it’s not there and concentrate on our game.”
