The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb) has announced a significant leadership transition, marking a new chapter in the Institute’s history.

A statement from the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Shola Oshodi-John, FCArb, said, “After years of dedicated service, exemplary leadership, and commitment to the growth and advancement of NICArb, Professor Fabian Ajogwu OFR, SAN, FCArb, has stepped down from his position as President and Chairman of the Governing Council, effective June 30, 2026.

“Throughout his tenure, Professor Ajogwu provided visionary leadership that strengthened the institution, enhanced its reputation, and contributed significantly to achieving its strategic objectives.

“The Governing Council, members, and stakeholders of NICArb express their profound gratitude for his invaluable contributions and wish him continued success in all his future endeavours.

“Following this transition, the Governing Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Omoruyi A. Omonuwa OFR, SAN, FCArb as the new President and Chairman of the Governing Council, effective July 1, 2026.

“Mr. Omonuwa brings a wealth of experience, professional excellence, and a deep commitment to the values and mission of NICArb. The Council is confident that under his leadership, the Institute will continue to grow, innovate, and strengthen its position as a leading institution in its field.

Expressing his support for the new leadership, Professor Fabian Ajogwu stated, “I have every confidence in the Learned Senior Advocate and Distinguished Arbitrator, Mr. Omoruyi A. Omonuwa’s ability to lead NICArb into its next phase of growth and development.

“His integrity, experience, and dedication to the objectives of our institution make him exceptionally qualified for this role. I am confident that NICArb will continue to thrive under his stewardship, and I offer him my full support and best wishes as he assumes this important responsibility.
