National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has reaffirmed the unity of the party, urging its leaders and members to embrace tolerance and make sacrifices in pursuit of their collective political goals.
Kwankwaso made the call after hosting the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, at his residence in Abuja on Friday.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, the former Kano State governor said he welcomed Obi back from what he described as a highly productive international trip, noting that both leaders held extensive discussions on key partisan and national issues.
“Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting my brother and partner, His Excellency Peter Obi, at my residence in Abuja,” Kwankwaso stated.
He added that their meeting provided an opportunity to review developments within the party and discuss issues affecting the country.
According to him, the NDC remains united despite differing opinions among its members, stressing that political leaders must demonstrate maturity in handling internal disagreements.
“Our party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), remains strongly united. As leaders, we must continue to demonstrate maturity by making the necessary sacrifices and tolerating our differences in pursuit of our shared goal,” he said.
Kwankwaso emphasized that unity and cooperation among party stakeholders were essential to achieving the NDC’s vision for Nigeria.
The meeting comes amid ongoing consultations and engagements among key opposition figures ahead of future political activities and efforts aimed at strengthening party structures across the country.
The NDC vice-presidential candidate expressed confidence in the party’s mission and its prospects, maintaining that its leadership remained committed to delivering a better future for Nigerians.
“We are resolute in this mission, and together, we shall ensure that Nigeria is OK,” he added.
The Abuja meeting is the latest in a series of high-level consultations involving top NDC leaders as the party seeks to consolidate internal cohesion and present a united front on national issues.
The meeting between Obi and Kwankwaso as a demonstration of the close working relationship between the party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates and a signal of their commitment to maintaining unity within the NDC. (TRIBUNE)
