Abia State Gov Alex Otti inspecting projects round the state
By CHARLES IWUOHA
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has assured that the ongoing reconstruction and modernisation of the new Government House complex in Abia State will be completed and ready for occupation before the end of 2026.
Governor Otti gave the assurance during an inspection tour of ongoing and completed projects within the Government House complex in Umuahia, the state capital.
The Governor, who was accompanied by senior government officials, inspected several key facilities, including the newly constructed Governor’s Office and Official Residence, which are part of the broader effort to reposition the seat of government to meet modern standards.
On arrival at the site, the Governor was received by engineers handling the project, who conducted him round the facilities and provided updates on the level of work completed.
According to project updates, several structures within the Government House complex have already been completed.
These include the renovation and retrofitting of the Deputy Governor’s Office, the new Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), as well as the remodelling of the Michael Okpara Auditorium, the Protocol Building, and the Banquet Hall.
Work is also ongoing on additional infrastructure within the complex, including a modern Government House Clinic, a new entrance gate, and other supporting facilities aimed at transforming the complex into a functional administrative hub.
During the inspection, Governor Otti assessed the quality of work done, sought clarifications from contractors, and issued directives to ensure strict compliance with approved designs and specifications.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, commending the contractors for the pace and quality of delivery, while urging them to sustain momentum to meet the completion target.
Otti noted that the project represents a major step in rebuilding the state’s administrative infrastructure, recalling that successive administrations had operated from rented private buildings rather than a purpose-built Government House.
He reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to delivering a modern Government House complex that reflects the dignity, efficiency, and aspirations of the people of Abia State.
