Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State has declared that the party will not collapse into any existing political party in its quest for electoral victory.
Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of a get-together organised for party stakeholders in Ilorin, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party would, however, welcome alliances with other political parties based on shared political ideology.
Abdullahi said the party had consistently produced credible candidates through its primaries for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship elections. He added that the party’s membership in Kwara State was growing daily.
He also stated that the ADC would welcome members from other political parties who are willing to join the opposition party, adding that “our door is wide open.”
The ADC spokesperson urged Nigerians to rally behind the party in the 2027 general elections to rescue the country from worsening insecurity and economic hardship.
Abdullahi said the ADC has the capacity to address the country’s security challenges, alleging that the ruling APC has inflicted untold hardship on Nigerians through its economic policies.
“Reported cases of kidnapping, banditry and killing have taken a serious toll on people in various states of the country, and this has become a major source of concern. This must stop, and the ADC is capable of bringing about the necessary change to move Nigeria forward,” he said.
While calling on party members to prepare for the tasks ahead, he also urged Nigerians to mobilise support for the ADC to ensure its victory in the 2027 elections.
The party’s spokesperson expressed confidence that the ADC would form the government in both Kwara State and Nigeria in 2027.
“We have qualified and experienced candidates. We don’t have candidates that have been to EFCC before,” he said.
He, however, appealed for the support of Nigerians, stressing that the responsibility of bringing about positive leadership and good governance does not rest on candidates alone.
According to him, meaningful change cannot be achieved without the active support and participation of the people.
