The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of seven students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Yazid Abubakar, it was confirmed that the students were abducted from their off-campus residence located in the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda.
“On 3rd June 2026, at about 0400hrs, information was received from a reliable source that unknown armed bandits stormed and attacked rented student accommodations located on the outskirts of the Low-Cost Area in Kaura Namoda LGA.
“The Police PRO further said that during the attack, the assailants abducted seven (7) students.
“Upon receiving a distress call, joint police tactical teams and military personnel attached to Operation Fansan Yamma, based in Kaura Namoda, were immediately mobilised to the scene.
“However, the hoodlums fled before the arrival of the security operatives. One of the abducted students managed to escape and has since been reunited with the authorities.
According to him, security forces have intensified search-and-rescue operations, with all hands on deck to ensure the safe release of the remaining abducted victims.
The Police Command urged members of the public to remain calm and continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information that may assist ongoing operations. (TRIBUNE)
