Primate Ayodele and President Tinubu
The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the recent abduction of school children and their principals in Oyo, declaring that the Federal Government has failed in its responsibility to guarantee the safety of Nigerians.
Primate Ayodele, in a statement issued by his media aide Osho Oluwatosin, described the country’s security situation as alarming and questioned the effectiveness of measures being deployed to tackle insecurity.
Ayodele lamented what he described as the failure of political leaders, religious figures and security institutions to address the growing security challenges confronting the nation.
According to him, many political office holders have become disconnected from the suffering of ordinary Nigerians, while some religious leaders have failed to speak truth to those in authority.
“Our politicians are heartless and satanic to the nation, and there is no way nemesis will not fight. Even our clerics have failed us, including security operatives. If it was an advanced country, we would have gotten a tangible solution now,” he said.
“I don’t understand why Nigeria doesn’t align with God’s plan; what is wrong with our system? Even those who are in power, when you give them a solution to this problem, they see you as a jester.”
The cleric further stated that the continued insecurity in the country reflects poorly on major religious bodies, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and Islamic organisations, accusing them of failing to tell government officials what they need to hear.
He warned that the current administration must take decisive action to address insecurity and ensure the safe return of the abducted children.
“What is happening is a shame to CAN, PFN and Islamic bodies. God is not happy with this government, and if Tinubu doesn’t do all that is needed, he will be disgraced out of office,” he said.
Ayodele also criticised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde over his handling of the situation, questioning his participation in a political event amid concerns over the security incident in the state.
“The government is missing it every day, and even the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, hasn’t handled this well. Despite all of these, he still went for a rally declaring his ambition. The blood of the innocent is crying,” he stated.
Primate Ayodele maintained that President Tinubu’s administration has not done enough to tackle insecurity, warning that the consequences could be politically damaging if urgent action is not taken.
“Tinubu has failed woefully in terms of security. Nigeria is in pain, and if these children die, Tinubu should forget about a second term because this is how it started during Jonathan,” Ayodele said.
He added that he had repeatedly raised concerns about security threats in Oyo State and around schools, but claimed that his warnings were ignored.
“I had warned about Oyo like ten times in my video. I made mention of schools several times, but they didn’t listen. The president must do whatever he has to do to ensure the safety of these children,” he added. (Sunday Tribune)
