Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah
The Commissioner of Police Plateau State, Bassey Ewah, has banned commercial tricycles also known as “Keke-Napep” and motor cycles in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis during the Eid-el-Kabir Sallah celebrations.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police Alfred Alabo, said the ban became necessary to enable the police to identify and arrest criminals who might want to use the period to cause tension.
The CP appealed to the residents to comply with the ban, adding that it is not intended to infringe on the rights of any person or group of persons, but to guarantee a peaceful celebration throughout the state.
Ewah assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring that the state would remain peaceful during the celebrations.
The CP called on religious leaders to urge them to worship in mosques in their immediate communities and warn them against any prayers outside their mosques/worship centres. (The Nation)
